ABC Purposes

In particular, "ABC" focuses on the topic of universal design, in terms of accessible and flexible solutions to overcome architectural and sensorial barriers, in respect of historical and architectural values of the building.

One of the main aims of "ABC" is to design the improvement of the accessibility and usability of historical university buildings, considered fundamental elements of the cultural heritage to be protected and enhanced. Designing the accessibility of historical university buildings means ensuring both the same rights for all people without making differences in respect of personal abilities, and providing the preservation and enhancement of the building itself.

The building chosen as case study is the Mondino Institute, of the University of Pavia.
